Most people are unaware of the importance of having their jewelry appraised until they have suffered a loss. Unless you have your jewelry appraised, by a qualified gemologist, and scheduled separately on your homeowner’s insurance policy, chances are you are not going to have the coverage you need in the event of a loss or theft.  All appraisals done at our office start with a careful examination of the jewelry to inspect for any damage or needed repair.  Next, all pieces are thoroughly cleaned and then digitally photographed for future documentation.  Using state of the art equipment, your jewelry is then weighed, measured, evaluated using the G.I.A. grading scale and then assigned a current retail replacement value. Other types of appraisals issued include those used for Estate purposes as well as domestic matters.  These types of appraisals differ in that a “fair market value” is assigned to the items, rather than retail replacement value.
